Indian Summer

Crop top and skirt: H&M, flatforms: thrifted from Bows and Arrows, necklace and earrings: Urban Outfitters, leather bracelet and gold cuff: from Israel, nail polish: Essie Enuf-is-Enuf.

Today after brunch my best friend, Stephanie, and I ventured out to the river at the very top of midtown. North of the railroad tracks and "the hangar" skate park, and through the thickets of brambles we went, all in the name of finding a peaceful stretch of riverbank. Once we did, I kicked off my shoes and waded in to cool off from the near 100 degree temperatures. Talk about an Indian summer!

Stephanie really knows her stuff when it comes to photography. She found her inner Tyra Banks --  shouting at me to "find the light" and "be a model." When I mentioned the ridiculous Tyra term, "smizing" (smiling with your eyes) however, she said she'd never heard of it. So from then on she shouted at me to "smeezel!". Coincidentally, that made me smile for real. :)

I wore this shirt because it's probably my last chance to wear it this season since it's strictly a summer shirt and the image reminds me of "The Circle of Life" from The Lion King. I mean, can you think of a better reason to wear a shirt than paying homage to a Disney movie? Neither can I.

These are the shoes I got for one dollar at the Bows and Arrows Dollar Sale! Woo hoo!

  2. You look so disappointed by those weeds... Ha ha ha!!! SMEEZEL! Thanks for letting me take your picture in the sweltering sun. I know I dragged it out way longer than was necessary but I was having a blast watching you Rick James it up in the gravel.

  4. I wish I could type the opening of "Circle of Life." Alas, all I know is sounds. That's exactly what I think of when I see that top too. You might be on to something. Next post: "Little Mermaid" inspiration??
